Early in January I was on assignment in Phoenix, Arizona. My wife and I decided to take a day to explore the area around there and went over to Scottsdale. We walked around looking at shops, talking with local people and enjoyed the beautiful weather that Arizona so frequently offers this time of year. Then it happened. As we’re on our way back to the car I see this man that I instantly know I want to photograph. Not want! NEED to photograph! Paul Miles, blues guitarist. (Let me insert an author’s note here: even on vacation days I’m usually packing enough camera equipment to frighten the average mortal)
So while I proceed to take photos Paul Miles proceeds to lay down some of the most genuine blues that I’ve ever heard in person. Paul is animated and truly lives his music. Based in Detroit he was in Arizona for a little bit of Blues and R&R.
Paul was most generous with his time and meeting him truly was one of the highlights of our trip to Arizona.
